Elm Trees Can Be Pruned Now

The only time of year to prune elm trees in Alberta is between October 1 and March 31 when the beetles responsible for spreading the deadly fungus are not active. This is essential in the prevention of Dutch Elm Disease (DED). There is no cure once an elm is infected but DED can be prevented.
